Jan Smith is casino host for Golden Casino Group in Black Hawk, Colo. He joined the company in 2002 and is responsible for player development, including identifying, attracting, retaining, assisting and cultivating slot and table-game casino players.

Originally from Connecticut, Smith’s resume is as interesting as it is impressive. He has work for a bank in San Francisco, as a stylist for a Madison Avenue hair salon in Manhattan and as a bartender for United Airlines in Denver. It’s there that Smith was offered the opportunity to move to Black Hawk.

Prior to joining Golden Casino Group, Smith worked for Jazz Alley Casino in Black Hawk for 10 years where he held many positions including slot supervisor, cage manager and finally lead manager on duty before their closure in 2002.  In this capacity, he was responsible for scheduling, promotions, gaming compliance, recruiting and overall management of the property.

In his spare time, Smith enjoys quality time with his pets, reading and movies and activities with his coworkers.

Smith received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut.
